By agency I mean flake removal scars, chipping, or pecking, human modification basically. By probability, I mean that it would say be a million to one shot if your stone looked like an elephant, trunk, eye and ear features, could still be a natural occurrence just rare, if it had a bear, an ape and say bird motifs as well, the probability would be so astronomical, we can say its an artifact just by it probable impossibility not to be, especially on a site that produces more of the same motifs.
Ah ha makes perfect sense! I find myself sometimes taking 30 photos of one rock due to so many images on every edge and angle. It makes me crazy cuz I really do have an enormous amount of them still to wade through, and tons still in my yard to get. I find the stone work on some to be so incredible, I can see why some would say "no way". But like I read... the Egyptian, Greek, Roman etc civilizations all have amazing art artifacts, so why is it so hard for many archaeologists to believe we could have some incredible art artifacts in North America as well? Craziness! Anyway, what's your guess on the possible age/time frame of some of my artifacts you saw, since you believe them to be older than I guessed? That could help my narrow my research a little more for sure. Thanks again, I am grateful to you!
I believe these are made by the Solutrean culture of south France , Portugal , and Spain . They where seal hunters 16 to 20 thousand years ago and used crude hide covered boats for sea hunting. I believe initially some drifted too far out and got in trade tides/winds and landed mid east coast in North America …. if its hidden birds it's likely them …. They where what we know as clovis.
That would fit for some finds, however many show ape/monkey like images, also I am of the opinion that such finds were in use for vast amounts of time, they can be found in many ancient layers with vastly distant chronology according to current understanding of the dates for particular strata.
No offense, rally nice rocks, but you need to filter what you post by recognizing agency, or if not, then probability.
ReplyDeleteTeach me, I don't know what that means! I want to learn! Thank
